SCRIPTURES: Nehemiah 10:1-37
BOTTOM LINE: The response from God’s People to God’s revelation of their Sin was this amazing Renewal of their Hearts and Worship.
QUESTION: How often am I enrolling in the “Benefit Plan” of Christianity without the necessity of Transformation? I often desire the blessing of Salvation & life In-Christ without the process of carving away Flesh.
DOWNLOAD: Chapter 10 paints for us an amazing picture of the people of God, gathered together before God and one another, sharing their VOW’s & PROMISE’s to God.
NEHEMIAH 10:1-27 is this entire list of those who agreed and signed this Covenant … and it’s HUGE to note here how important it was for the people that the Rulers and Leaders of the Nation were at the front of the line …
Vs. 1 there … Nehemiah was at the front of the line!
Vs. 2-8 were the Priests … there were 17 of them … these were descendants of Levi and Aaron … they were responsible for serving the Lord in the Temple … and their support and signature was significant in the uniting the nation under God.
Vs. 9-13 … the Levites also were involved in the signing … there were 21 of them … they were descendants of Levi but not Aaron … so they worked in the Temple but not involved w/ the sacrifices.
Vs. 14-27 … is the Leaders of the People … since it wasn’t possible for every person to sign the covenant … the Leaders signed for those they represented … Israel was so blessed w/ good leadership in this season … and when those in the Leadership positions are honoring God … it’s amazing how that parallels amazing blessing in those nations as well.
VOW #1 : Submission to God’s Word – I read this week, only 8% of Christians in our country actually read the Bible regularly. It’s impossible to submit to what we’re not even reading to begin with. Maybe we need to start TODAY by reading God’s Word … and then move towards a heart of Submission.
VOW #2 : Separation from the World – we are to be In the world but not Of the world. How different does our life look? How are we doing? Is our life truly a witness for those around us to see the Love, Grace, and Mercy of God … and what following God’s Word looks like.
VOW #3 : Sabbath – do we REST? Do we recharge? Is it intentional?
VOW #4 : Supporting God’s Work – Are we GIVING and SUPPORTING God’s Work? Is it intentional, Responsible, Obedient, Proportionate and Sacrificial GIVING?What do you think it would look like if we all began to do these things?
If we all made these same VOWS before God and before one another … WOW …
APPLICATION: ARE YOU IN?????
I’ve been battling this question this week: How often am I enrolling in the “Benefit Plan” of Christianity without the necessity of Transformation? I often desire the blessing of Salvation & life In-Christ without the process of carving away Flesh.
Can you imagine how this would change our lives? If we stood at the alter w/ God and faced one another and made these VOW’s … tip death do us unite … til you call us home!
