consider this just for a moment … The Miracle of the Manger really makes some astonishing claims regarding this baby doesn’t it?  Into the humblest of circumstances … JESUS … the Son of God is born!

His MOTHER … and ordinary young teen-ager named Mary …

His BIRTHPLACE … what we translate as a Barn … which was the bottom floor of a home where the animals lived … in this small little town called Bethlehem

So … what if He IS who He claims to be?

–       What if there really is someone who knows our name?

–       What if there really is someone who literally knows every single hair on our head?

–       What if there really is someone who totally knows every single need … and hurt … and thought …and emotion …

We can’t accept His Claims of “who He claims to be” without recognizing that He has also staked His Claim on our lives …

III.  The Manger Brings Us A FATEFUL CHOICE

We all have to consider the question … and ultimately answer for ourselves … No One Can Decide for Us When It Comes to the Miracle in the Manger

Jesus put it this way when He was talking w/ His Disciples … Who do people say that the Son of Man Is?  And they said … Some say John the Baptist; others, Elijah; stil others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.  … But You? Jesus asked them … Who do you say that I am?  And Simon Peter answered … You are the Messiah, the Son of the Living God.”  (Matthew 16:13-16)

How will we answer the question … Is Jesus who He Claimed to Be?  Do We Believe?

APPLICATION:   When we are considering this child born in Bethlehem … it is Thru Jesus … The Miracle of the Manger … where God became Flesh … and although we don’t have to view God as this heavy handed Judge, sitting up on the throne w/ the gavil in His hand … Paul was clear to the Church in Corinth

2 Corinthians 5:10 … “10 But to all who did receive Him, He gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in His name.”

The Miracle of the Manger is that God became Flesh … and lived among us … He came not to bring judgment … but to bring freedom and restoration … so that we could become children of God

John writes in his Gospel …

John 1:12 … “12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”

If we will open our heart to Jesus … and trust Him … to be exactly who He claimed He was … we can Experience the Miracle of CHRISTmas.
