QUESTION:  Are we living life on MISSION?

In the mid-80’s and early 90’s, businesses all began to work diligently to develop a MISSION STATEMENT, and churches began to follow suit.  Certainly there is great clarity that can be developed and some beutifully developed restructure of today’s Scripture.

Truth is … Jesus left The Church w/ it’s MISSION STATEMENT.  Paul didn’t have any of his guys spend any time developing another MISSION.  He simply told them what Jesus said:  Go and Make Disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and teaching them to obey all I have commanded you.

Jesus had risen just as He promised, and about 25-30 days later, He had instructed the Disciples to meet Him in Galilee.  Here they are, gathered together on the Hillside, and Jesus leaves this w/ their final charge.  This folks, is your MISSION.  It was THEIR Mission and it is OUR Mission.

But sometimes we struggle to have the CONFIDENCE to carry out the mission don’t we?  Jesus shares here 3 really powerful things for us to remember, as we seek to gain confidence for living life on MISSION.

APPLICATION:

1.  AUTHORITY – Jesus made it clear that all authority had been given to Him … and He gave it to us to be on His MISSION.  Pilate, Caiaphas, Annas … they all thought they had authority, but not over Jesus.  He gave His Life and He rose again.  And when we are in pursuit of His MISSION, we can walk in confidence and in the AUTHORITY of the God of the Universe.

2.  ASSIGNMENT – How often do we feel unqualified?  Perhaps we’re tentative?  Don’t know what people will say or think?   Don’t know how they will respond?  We can live on MISSION w/ the confidence that when our life collides w/ others, this was not our assignment … but God’s ASSIGNMENT for us.  And so when we think, I don’t know if this is my place.  Perhaps it’s not … but it is God’s Place and this is His ASSIGNMENT for us.  He’s simply seeking our AVAILABILITY.

3.  ASSURANCE – Jesus said … I will be with you always, until the end of the age.   That’s forever by the way!  So when we live on MISSION, we know we NEVER go alone!  And perhaps others might reject Jesus … they might even make fun of us … or steer clear from us in the office … but we are NEVER alone!

Would you consider living life on MISSION?  Walking in His Confidence?  Praing each day for every single collision and every single ASSIGNMENT God creates for us that day … that we would Make Disciples
