TEACHER: Ken Hicks
SCRIPTURES: Ephesians 2:13-22
BOTTOM LINE: What if we began to pray that by the union we have w/ Christ, we unite w/ one our Brother by Faith … and we become instruments to make the Church reflect God’s Glory and God’s Mission because this world belongs completely to Him!
QUESTION: Are we going to REPENT or continue to REBEL?
DOWNLOAD: There is no chance of truly exhausting all the Scripture, Tension, Ideas and Solutions to the problem of Racial Tension and Racial Negligence in our country.
Racism is one of the most difficult things for me on a personal level … I’ve not every seen Red, Yellow, Black and White … I had African American Roommates … Many of my good friends are not Caucasian … and yet w/in the CHURCH … I think we have honestly have seen and heard and experience the Racism that is so prevalent in our culture … and just honestly just not had the courage to do much [if anything] about it.
This isn’t a NEW THING. in fact, America isn’t the 1st to have to tackle this tough, tough issue, and Paul wrote a letter to the Christians in Ephesus trying to address this very thing.
Paul is referring to the destruction of the walls that kept the Jews & Gentiles apart. He tells us that through the sacrifice of Christ, these walls of Division were broken down!
Paul is telling the people of Ephesus, and it’s absolutely still 100% applicable today. All RACES have been reconciled and brought together as ONE NEW MAN through the work of Jesus on the cross!
I would say we’ve got to stop all the Wall Building w/in the Body of Christ [and I know that means more than RACE to at least 1 of our candidates] but w/in the Body of Christ, we’ve got to stop putting up walls and allow ourselves to be UNITED In-Christ.
There’s no room for Racism, or even Prejudice for that matter in Christianity. 2,000 years ago, Paul was addressing this very thing. 60 years ago, Dr. King was preaching this very same thing.
We’re hearing it again today, and if we read thru God’s Word, when God sent His messengers to a disobedient & rebellious people, we discover that we’ve been given a choice:
- WE CAN REPENT!
- WE CAN CONTINUE TO REBEL!
And we have to recognize … we’re choosing 1 or the Other … Ether we’re …
- confessing from a heart of repentance and seeking God’s movement in our lives
- continuing in the same cycle of rebellion
… and catch this … no choice is a choice right?
BUT I think the world is watching and saying … We see your Unity In-Christ!
That is our PAST … but what Paul says here … is this is our way FORWARD too.
What if we began to pray that by the union we have w/ Christ, we unite w/ one our Brother by Faith … and we become instruments to make the Church reflect God’s Glory and God’s Mission because this world belongs completely to Him!
